How the DailyUseful Generator Works
A transparent look at how words are cleaned, arranged, checked, and placed into custom puzzle grids.

Preparing the words
The generator trims spaces, converts entries to uppercase, removes empty lines, and checks each word against the selected grid size. Up to 50 valid entries can be processed in one puzzle.
Placing longer words first
Long words are placed before short ones because they require more uninterrupted space. This improves the chance that a large themed list will fit successfully.
For dense 20x20 puzzles, DailyUseful creates multiple candidate arrangements and keeps the result that places the most words.
Difficulty controls direction
Easy uses horizontal and vertical placement. Medium adds diagonal direction. Hard expands the possible placement patterns for a stronger challenge.
Filling and checking the grid
After themed words are placed, unused cells receive random letters. The final word list is created from words successfully placed in the grid, so the displayed list and puzzle stay synchronized.
