Preview before printing
Always use the browser print preview before committing to paper. Confirm that the grid, title, and complete word list fit comfortably and remain readable.
A puzzle that looks spacious on a large monitor may become too small on an A4 or Letter page.
Keep the word list compact
Arrange words in multiple columns or horizontal rows instead of one long vertical list. This saves space and helps the solver scan the list quickly.
For 25 to 50 words, divide the list evenly and keep consistent spacing between entries.
Use contrast, not decoration, for clarity
Decorative borders and theme colors can add personality, but the letter grid should remain the strongest visual element. Avoid backgrounds that reduce contrast or consume too much ink.
Test the real audience experience
Print one sample and solve it. Check whether the letters are comfortable, the word list is easy to mark, and the page has enough margin for home and classroom printers.
